Hi, I'm Don.

I didn't start out teaching companies how to hire people.

I started by helping people get hired, mostly because I had such a hard time doing it myself.

Looking back on those early years, I'm not sure I was the problem.

I think many of the people interviewing me had no idea what they were doing.

Maybe I wasn't very good at interviewing either, but I'm sticking with the first version.

Early in my career, I worked for organizations like NASA, Exxon and several Cleveland based IT companies.

Later, I became fascinated with interviewing and what separated the candidates who consistently got hired from those who didn't.

That curiosity eventually led me to create Job Interview Tools, where I spent years teaching job seekers how to interview more effectively and position themselves for better opportunities.

As I worked with more people, I began noticing a pattern.

Many candidates were being evaluated through hiring processes that weren't very effective.

Interviews were inconsistent, poor questions didn't reveal much, and none of the hiring managers were on the same page.

The more I studied the problem, the more I realized hiring wasn't just difficult for candidates. It was difficult for employers too.

Most business owners never receive formal training on how to hire.

They're expected to build teams, evaluate people, and make decisions that can impact the future of their company, often with little more than a resume, a few interviews, and a gut feeling.

That realization led me down a new path.

Today, I help founders, startups and small business owners build hiring systems that bring more structure, consistency, and confidence to the hiring process.

I'm also the author of The Long Game, where I write about the decisions, mistakes, and lessons that shape businesses over time.

Whether I'm writing about hiring, leadership, culture, or growth, I'm ultimately interested in the same thing:

How do you build a business that lasts?

I'm glad you're here.
